Kiko Goats
Kiko goats are a breed of meat goat that originated in New Zealand from dairy goats crossed with the local, feral goats. They make excellent mothers, both very protective of their young and they have higher fat content in their milk leading to the rapid weight gain of the kids. We have a few purebred Kiko goats but mostly use them to cross with boars, making more hardy, faster growing, meat goats.
We have decreased the size of our herd over the past few years and put greater emphasis on raising goats with excellent parasite resistance that make good mothers. In 2019 this has already started to pay off as our goats, almost all first time mothers, have successfully had and cared for twins and triplets with very little trouble.
