Our Horses and Riding program:
We are now offering riding lessons at Capriole farm! We have always had horses here, primarily for personal use, both for pleasure riding and competition, but at times for training and instruction.
At this time, we are providing lessons in riding and basic horsemanship to children, 5 years old and up. We ride English, teaching from a dressage background which is a solid foundation of any style of riding, and we put an emphasis on horse care and proper, safe horsemanship. About the instructor: Meg is a United State Dressage Federation Bronze medalist, received her instructor certification through ARIA (American riding instructor association) in 2017 in dressage and recreational riding, and has years of experience in both pleasure and competition riding in dressage and hunter/jumper. She has years of experience as a horse trainer and instructor. About the horses: Our lesson horses include two Icelandic geldings and a Shetland pony. The Icelandics, Fili and Kili, are for the older or more experienced riders. They are very versatile little horses who know dressage, can jump, and will give their riders a chance to experience the the two special Icelandic gaits: the tolt and flying pace. Jamie, the Shetland, is an exception to the rule that states all Shetlands are mischievous little monsters. He is a very agreeable and patient boy how has taught many children to ride throughout his life. In his spare time he enjoys going for a drive with his cart and bossing around the bigger horses. |
